Boosting the Community Spirit in Southampton

On 22nd December our Southampton Branch went above and beyond in their duty to the community and opened up a soup kitchen for the homeless people in the area. They were generously supported by local shops and business including, the CO-OP, Sainsbury’s and Tesco who all donated food to support the event.

Even the local businesses were on board and were informing homeless people in the area of the upcoming event. The branch staff collected warm clothes, hats, gloves and sleeping bags and were also distributing them throughout the day as well as offerings of hot drinks, hot soup and other snacks.

Chaya Thakrar, Regional Director said of the event, “I am so proud of our team in Southampton for organising such an inspiring event so close to Christmas. So many of our employees regularly give back to the community and this is a fine example of what we will continue to do to support local communities we work with. I would like to say a huge thank you to all those involved.”

The Southampton branch, which is located opposite the Bargate Shopping Centre, continues to work in partnership with the local authority providing care services across the city.
